THE TARGETABLE IN HIDING: CHILDREN OF DESIRE

// MA Dissertation 2022

How can a fetishist approach to image-making affect the post-pandemic body and its representation into a future of surrendering to vulnerability?

The targetable in Hiding: Children of Desire aims to investigate how a sense of unreality is key in today’s pictorial realm. Personalized unrealities born out of the interplay of commodity-driven intensities of Fantasy, Desire and Pleasure manipulate our human plasticity. Plasticity which has been incredibly digitized and made stagnant.

This paper is an embodied journey through the concept of Plásmata. Plásmata which has the ability to be both of Image, crystallized in time; And to be of Motion, in touch. This to understand how exactly the screen can be broken, in order for us to connect again with a newly reformed sense of vulnerability.
